GamesAid’s Festive fundraising programme

’tis the season to be jolly, but it’s also the season for giving and the GamesAid festive calendar is now in full swing, with plenty of opportunities for you to get involved with raising money for great causes this Xmas.

King of Kong

Don’t forget Warner Bros. splendid King of Kong screening this week on Friday 6th  December at the Warner Bros.’ luxury centralLondon preview theatre. The cult gaming classic is followed by a panel discussion covering the origins of and the current state of the competitive gaming scene and there’s a last few tickets available on Eventbrite or email Spike Laurie with any questions.

Dwarven Dairy Drive

Those nice people at Yogscast have set up Dwarven Dairy Drive a brand new Humble Bundle offering with the help of SEGA, which includes a bunch of 6 great games like Torchlight, Chivalry and Napoleon: Total War as well as DLC goodies. Charities set to benefit include Special Effect, WarChild, Oxfam, Little People UK and our your very own GamesAid.  So get games and get involved!

It’s Murder out there

Still on the games beat, it’s time to get your sleuth on as Relentless Software’s #1 mystery murder game  Murder Files is having a very special promotion where you can choose what price you pay for the game, with 20% of sales guaranteed to go to GamesAid. Nice and if you have any questions speak to Andrew Eades for further details.

Give8-bit

This week also sees the launch of Give8Bit a brand new channel set up by Playmob and backed by big industry hitters like IGN which highlight the work the games industry does for charity. Check out the video at the top of the page and then show your support by signing up for Thunderclap a social media tool that helps spread the word across the likes of Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. Or if you’re proper old skool use the hashtag #gamingtuesday on 03 December.

Cakes for Xmas

GamesAid superstar Cat Channon is not content with cycling from Cologne to Brighton and competing in all manner of triathlon challenges, she’s also raising money with the Great GamesAid Christmas Cake Off (okay we made the title up), where she’ll bake you a cake for Xmas.  We’ve tried them, they’re delicious, but you’d better hurry, there’s not many baking days left until Xmas.  Mail catherinechannon@hotmail.co.uk to order yours now from Cat direct. Yum.

That’s your lot for now, but keep an eye here for breaking news of further fundraisers, with more GamesAid reveals planned for later this week. If you’d like to submit your own news on Christmas fundraising activities, simply email Trustees@gamesaid.org and we’ll add them to the list.
