PlayStation fans from all the ages queued on Bethnal Green Road, anticipating the opening of the 1994 video games store replica. Clad with memorable merchandise, smartphones instagrammed the retro consoles on display. Every period of PlayStation history was there. “It is very much like walking back in time,” says old time fan, Jonathan Ross. “I spent so much of my life in stores like this.”

Nostalgia was not the sole reason for spending hours in the chilly December air. The first 100 customers took home a limited edition 20th Anniversary PlayStation 4 for £19.94. Syed Uddin who has been a PlayStation fan since 1995 says it’s “an amazing gesture to show that the slogan isn’t just a marketing thing. They are for the players.”

And not just for the players! The revenue raised from the sale of the limited edition consoles is going straight to all the GamesAid charities. Children and young people in need across the UK will benefit greatly from PlayStation’s great will. Thank you!
