GamesAid 2019 in a few lines

Time flies and the year is almost over! We feel very grateful we got to share our 2019 events with our GamesAid members, patrons, supporters and friends. However, the most important thing is that we’ve been able to raise a huge quantity of money to help our charities and it’s all thanks to you! Here’s a tiny summary of the activities that we held during the year:

We started the year laughing with the Stand Up at Komedia in Brighton on the 4th of February, an event organized by our fantastic patron Imran Yusuf. The amazing line-up that delighted the audience was:

Laura Lexx

The Noise Next Door

Michael Fabbri

Angela Barnes

Paul Zenon

Jen Brister

The event was also possible thanks to our kind sponsors Keyword Studios and Boss Alien. Without them the fun night would have never happened and we wouldn’t have raised £3,682 towards our charities.

In May, we had another wonderful Stand Up Comedy night, this time in lovely London. The event was, once again, hosted by our patron Imran Yusuf, who was accompanied on stage by an awesome group:

Shoot From The Hip

Josh Widdicombe

Yuriko Kotani

Alex Kealy

John Moloney

The night was sponsored by Indigo Pearl, Polystream and Bossa Studios and we also had a cool raffle where we gave out amazing prizes donated by a bunch of game studios!

In July, and thanks to our breathtaking sponsors Blazing Griffin, KeyMailer, Games London and Bluegfx; we held our traditional GamesAid Poker Tournament at the Hilton Brighton Metropole during the week of Develop:Brighton, raising a total of £5,050.

Another of our big events was the Golf & Spa Day, coming back for its 12th year at The Grove in Watford. An impressive £25,000 was raised during the day and our attendees had a great time playing golf and relaxing!

Apart from these events, we also raised a crazy £15,000 thanks to Humble Bundle. Greenman Gaming also donated £30,163.33; and the people at Digital Schoolhouse £500!!!!

We absolutely can’t forget about our GamesAid heroes, who took on heart-racing challenges to fundraise for our cause:

Claire Harker, Stephanie Magnier, Charles Cecil, and Catherine Channon swam nearly 6km between San Francisco and Alcatraz, raising a total of £6,612.

Our trustee Anna Mansi also accomplished the wonderful challenge of swimming a total of 10km at the river Dart in 3.19 hours and raising £1154!!!

And the nice people at Out Making Games held a raffle during their launch party in London. They raised a total of £541 and we send out a big thanks to all the attendees that took part!!!

Finally, our trustee Gina Jackson organized the traditional GamesAid 12 Days of Christmas, 12 days giving out fantastic items at our eBay shop that have been kindly donated by game studios in exclusivity for this occasion. Over those days, we’ve been able to raise more than £2,000!

All of this couldn’t be possible without all our members, patrons, supporters, friends and, of course, our trustees. We hope you want to keep accompanying us on this journey in 2020 too.

Thank you
