Sign up for exclusive King of Kong screening!

GamesAid is thrilled to be able to offers its members the opportunity to join Warner Bros.’ upcoming film fundraiser. On Friday 6th December the company’s Interactive Entertainment division will host an exclusive screening of the cult gaming classic King of Kong followed by a panel discussion covering the origins of and the current state of the competitive gaming scene.

Held at Warner Bros.’ luxury central London preview theatre, the company will open its doors to industry folk for an exclusive showing of the iconic videogaming movie.

Set in the early 1980’s the movie follows Steve Wiebe’s infamous assault on the Donkey Kong record set by the now legendary Billy Mitchell and the spiralling competition to retain and acquire the title of ‘King of Kong’ between the pair.

The evening will kick off with a drinks reception at 18.30 sponsored by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and will be followed by a screening of the cult classic movie at the company’s UK home in Holborn. It will conclude with a brief panel discussion by guests from the competitive gaming scene, including representatives from the ESL, the pro gaming network and videogaming media.

Topics will include the growth of competitive gaming, the career and making of a pro gamer and how both the media and the gaming industry work alongside this huge but niche audience.
