Spectrum Gaming
Spectrum Gaming is an autistic‑led UK charity supporting autistic young people aged 10–17 who experience long‑term isolation, burnout and mental distress in a world that often fails to meet their sensory, communication and social needs.
Based in Greater Manchester and operating online across the UK, we provide daily moderated digital youth spaces on Discord and Minecraft, as well as regular in‑person meetups at our youth centre in Bury and across the region. We also deliver advocacy and training to help families, schools and services better understand and support autistic young people.
For many of the young people we work with, gaming is a vital coping strategy. It helps them manage distress from negative school experiences, navigate daily challenges, build friendships and community, develop key life skills, experience achievement and recover from burnout. Our spaces offer safety, acceptance and understanding for those who have often been unable to access any other service.
Each year, we support around 1,000 autistic young people to rebuild confidence, form meaningful connections and re‑engage with learning and life.
Demand for our work has never been higher, and our offer is unique. Being selected as a Games Aid charity would provide crucial funding to sustain and expand our community spaces, enabling us to reach young people who currently have nowhere else to turn. Without this support, many would remain at risk of ongoing isolation, deteriorating mental health and a deepening sense of hopelessness about their futures.
